Biography
A Canadian based in Senegal, Sam Mednick is the West and Central Africa correspondent for The Associated Press. Mednick reports primarily on conflict, crises and human rights abuses in underreported contexts and has reported from more than 20 countries, primarily in Africa and the Middle East.
Before joining the AP as staff in 2022, she spent most of her nearly 20-year career freelancing. She was previously based in South Sudan for nearly three years and Burkina Faso for more than two years. She’s also covered the wars in Israel and Ukraine.
